We offer training, adventure, challenges and excitement:

Adventure Training: From hiking to skiing to climbing and abseiling. The ATC has opportunities for adventurous activities through the UK and Europe.

Annual Camps: Each year cadets get the opportunity to attend annual camps on RAF bases, both in the UK and overseas. Often the highlight of the cadet year.

Overseas Camps: Cadets get the opportunity to spend camps overseas, at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus for example!

Sports: Like Sport? Get involved in squadron, wing, regional and corps competitions in athletics, football, rugby, cross country, swimming. hockey and netball.
Flying: Go flying in the RAFs basic trainer aircraft the Grob Tutor. As well as learning about the aircrafts controls you may even get to try your hand at aerobatics....and all for FREE!

Gliding:  Take the controls of a Vigilant motor glider or a Viking winch launched glider with a qualified instructor. Cadets can also apply for a Gliding Scholarship whereby you will be trained to fly solo!

Shooting: Within the Air Training Corps you will get the opportunity to fire both the .22 and L98 rifles. All our shooting is at static targets from a prone position, and if you’re good enough you can compete in marksmanship competitions throughout the Corps.
Take the Lead: Not only can you take specially run courses in leadership, but you can be promoted within your squadron to take on more responsibility and help with the running of the unit.

Duke of Edinburgh: The Air Training Corps is one of the largest organisations offering the Duke of Edinburgh award, from Bronze, through Silver and to Gold! Find out more at the Duke of Edinburgh web site here (opens in new window).

BTEC: Every cadet has the opportunity to gain BTEC qualifications as we train you in aviation and Air Training Corps subjects.

Take the Lead: Not only can you take specially run courses in leadership, but you can be promoted within your squadron to take on more responsibility and help with the running of the unit.
